It's my fault!
Long-Term Learning Target: I can explain that the earth's surface is constantly changing through a variety of process and forces.
Casey Study 1: Natural Changes
We started this expedition by learning about weathering erosion. We modeled beach erosion in our own classroom, and even took a trip to the Hyrum Dam to kick off our expedition and to find real examples of weathering and erosion.
Casey Study 2: Volcanoes
We will study the science behind volcanoes and how they impact the earth's surface. Students will complete a 5-paragraph essay over their choice of volcano topics. We will even take a trip to Craters of the Moon National Monument & Preserve to see for ourselves how volcanoes have changed the land!
Case Study 3: Earthquakes
Students will also learn about the science behind earthquakes. We will take a closer look at earthquakes from Utah's past and even create earthquake preparedness guides and kits. Students will create a second informational piece of writing over this phenomenon.
